Privacy, in plain words

Abhyava helps a teacher share practice with their students between classes. This page says what is kept, who sees it and how long it stays. It applies to teachers, students and parents.

What is kept

  • About a student: their name, what they study and at what level, the practice their teacher shares, the days they practise and any notes they write.
  • Messages between the student and the teacher, and any videos, photos or voice notes the student chooses to send.
  • Optional contact details: an email address for alerts, and for students under 18, a parent or guardian’s name and when they agreed.
  • About a teacher: their name, email, a protected password, the classes they plan and the feedback they write.

Who sees it

Only the student’s own teacher. Students see their own practice and their own conversation, never other students’ (except a first name and progress on a class challenge leaderboard, if the teacher turns that on). Nothing is public, sold, or used for advertising.

A teacher can mention a student’s first name in their own public posts only if they have ticked that the student agreed.

Students under 18

The first time a student under 18 opens their portal, a parent or guardian is asked to agree before anything else. Their name and the time they agreed are recorded and shown to the teacher. Until then the portal cannot be used.

How long it is kept

  • Videos, photos and voice notes from students are deleted automatically after 90 days, unless the teacher has picked a different period (from 30 days to one year). The teacher’s written feedback stays.
  • Everything else stays while the student is on the teacher’s roster. When a teacher removes a student, everything about them is deleted, recordings included.
  • To have a student’s data removed, ask the teacher; they can do it in one step. A teacher can download all of their data from Settings at any time.

Emails

If a student or parent adds an email address, Abhyava sends a short note when the teacher writes, sends feedback or shares a new practice. No more than one a day, unless the portal has been opened since the last one. Every email has a link to stop them.

The services Abhyava uses

  • Hosting by Netlify, and the database and file storage by Supabase, on servers in the United States.
  • Emails are sent through Resend.
  • Payments for the Pro plan are handled by Dodo Payments. Card details go straight to them; Abhyava never sees or stores them.
  • To draft a lesson plan or the pre-class summary for a teacher, Abhyava may send the class theme and students’ first names and practice notes to Anthropic’s AI service. Under its business terms, that data is not used to train its models.
  • Microsoft Clarity measures how the app is used so it can be improved. In the student portal, everything a student types or reads is hidden from it.
  • Google Analytics counts visits and which pages are used. It never receives personal links or codes, and nothing anyone types.
  • Cookies only keep you signed in. There are no advertising cookies.
